The Encyclopedia of Game Machines

The Encyclopedia of Game Machines - coverWhen I first came across this book I was amazed how I could have missed it for so long despite the fact that I collect old consoles. This is a very nice read with interesting facts about almost all old (and modern) consoles out and some nice stories about the background of the machines and what stories of success of failure they brought with them.

As a collector this guide is very handy so you can check if you found all of the consoles you hope to have in your collection.

This guide mostly covers consoles but a few “border-line computers” are also included as they probably had significant impact on the way video games developed in the early days.

If you don’t want to buy this book the resources covering all generations of video games are thoroughly documented on the wikipedia.
