DOS-spel i Chrome
Med hjälp av NaClBox (de kunde kanske kommit på ett fyndigare namn?) spela gamla DOS-spel i webbläsaren Chrome! NaClBox är en utbyggnad av DOSBox (en DOS-emulator för er som inte hört talas om den). Instruktioner för hur du får NaClBox att fungera i Chrome finns på hemsidan. Jag kan tänka mig ganska många gamla härliga spel jag skulle kunna tänka mig att spela. Nu fattas det bara en Chromebook!

Ocarina of Time till 3DS
Jag minns ännu hur jag satt trollbunden framför Legend of Zelda till Nintendo 8-bits. Jag ägde det aldrig själv så jag spelade det antingen på hyrkassett eller hemma hos någon kompis. I timmar satt jag och försökte klara spelet. Inte förrän många år senare fick jag äntligen varvat spelet. Sedan dess har jag spelat nästan varenda spel i Zelda-serien… med undantag av Nintendo 64-utgåvorna! Dessa har jag missat totalt. Ocarina of Time som alla pratar så mycket om är det jag mest grämt mig för att jag missat. Jag kan inte hävda att jag inte haft möjligheter, jag äger numera en Nintendo 64-konsol med spelkassetten och allt. Dessutom har jag Ocarina of Time till min GameCubes jubileumsutgåva. Vidare har jag möjlighet att ladda hem det till min Wii. Ändå har jag inte spelat det.
Nu är jag nästan glad att jag missat spelet, för nu kommer Ocarina of Time till Nintendo 3Ds! De gånger jag startat Ocarina of Time så har jag alltid tyckt att den för sin tid nytänkande 3D-grafiken inte har åldrats lika bra som exempelvis de gamla 8-bits eller för den delen den fantastiskt fina 16-bits versionen av spelet har. Nu kommer alltså en remake med lite modernare 3D-grafik av det spel jag saknat mest i Zelda-serien! Då är det bara att vänta på att det ska översättas och börja säljas här i Europa!

Super Mario 25 år!
Den 13 september 1985 släpptes det första Super Mario Bros-spelet i Japan. För att fira detta släpps nu en jubileumsutgåva till Wii. Tyvärr finns det inga nyheter om en internationell utgåva än, förhoppningsvis kommer det! Ska man följa de ursprungliga utgivningsdatumen så får vi i Europa vänta till vårt 25-årsjubileum som inträffar den 15 maj 2012, 25 år efter att Super Mario Bors släpptes i Europa.

Tack Kotaku för denna fina video. Det hade varit roligt att se resultatet av ovanstående fast med en tryck-känslig (klös-känslig?) skärm.
Monkey Island 2 – demo
För några dagar sedan provade jag Monkey Island 2 Special Edition till min PS3. Jag spelade tidigare Monkey Islands första special edition till iPhone, där jag dock var lite besviken på kontrollerna.
Det som förvånade mig var hur kort demot var! Man hann knappt avslutade den kända “How much wood could a woodchuck chuck”-dialogen innan man tillfrågades om man ville köpa spelet. Då jag minns spelet från förr och hur långt det är tycker jag att de gott kunde kostat på sig att låta en lära känna spelet lite bättre innan demot tog slut.
Snyggt var det och visst blev man lite sugen på att köpa spelet… igen!
Meeting Nolan Bushnell
As a video game fan, this was a big moment for me, meeting Nolan Bushnell at a conference about innovation!
Bionic Commando Rearmed Repriced!
I kind of missed the release of Bionic Commando Rearmed but that might not have been an entierly bad thing, now I can get the game cheaper! The PS3 price just dropped to £3.99 / €4.99 (down from (£6.99 / €9.99) on PSN according to VG247.
Bionic Commando Rearmed is a new version of the old NES classic Bionic Commando. New graphics, new music, on-line features and other improvements. Additionally completing certain checkpoints in this game will unluck features in the upcoming Bionic Commando title.
I think I might try this one out when I get home!
Adventure Games of the Past
Do you remember Leisure Suit Larry? Or Police Quest? My favourite was Space Quest, I always where a sucker for science fiction. Now you can play these games through your webbrowser, multiplayer….ish. Sarien.net have posted Larry 1, Space Quest 1 & 2, Police Quest 1 and The Black Cauldron in small browser based games. It looks and feel just like the old games with a few minor improvements. First of all you can click and move and secondly you can right click to get a menu of commands. Another neat trick that is added is that you can see other players playing the game at the same time and perhaps learn a trick or two that you see them do. You cannot interact with other players but you can still follow them around and learn. These games brings nostalgic memories back to me, I’m waiting and hopeing for Kings Quest 1 to return as well since I never managed to finish that one.

The Princess is in Another Castle
Thanks to “science” we now know that the princess is in another castle in only 87,5% of the time. Thank you science. And thank you Kotaku for bringing me the best news as usual.
Street Fighter II HD Remix in Europe!
Finally Street Figher II HD Remix have been scheduled for Europe PSN! I’ve been waiting for this for a long time and this will be the first game I buy through PSN. I’ve downloaded many demos and free addons before and I hope that purchase and download will be just as easy as before.
For those who missed it the HD Remix edition is a complete remake of all the old graphics to fit the HD format. Everything was remade while trying as best as possible to remain true to the old look and feel. The above picture shows it just as I remember it in my mind, if I saw an actual screenshot of what it really looked like back in the days on arcade machines I would probably be dissapointed.
Perfect to relive some old arcade moments and also on the way is Street Figher IV which I will pre-order!
